January 26, 2016: El Nino loves Western Massachusetts or is it the other way around? Today we enjoyed sunny skies and 46 degrees. Within a week we're supposed to feel even higher temps. Here's a fun reminder of what we were doing last year on this day...

Since we are more than a month into winter, we would normally have changed the photo in the sidebar to a snowy one, but since we have no snow, we decided to put up another one of the gorgeous sunrises our son/bro, Jake Campbell, captured in our back yard! (More of Jake's work can be seen on Instagram @jakecampbellstudios or his website www.jakecampbellstudios.com.

Renovations still take up a large portion of our To-Do List but at the moment most of the work is taking place in our imaginations. Joie & Jake's Uncle Earl found this picture to inspire us with a unique idea for our back yard. It definitely would come in handy when we start doing retreats!

January 4, 2016MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! We hope you all had a delightful, joyful and safe December wherever you were and whatever you were doing.
This year's holidays were made extra special by the arrival of Jake, the Campbell family Prince, who is an incredibly talented photographer/videographer.

"Joy to the World"
The left photo was taken by Jake at dawn on Christmas morning. His expert eye caught this perfect image for our holiday post, but our hectic schedule delayed our sharing it. The one below caught an eerie view of the road in front of our house.

"Have Faith"

Some of the hectic was caused by some necessarily immediate rehab work in the downstairs rental space. As the old adage goes, "It's always something," and that's especially true in ye olde house. Being such a close family, we wanted to make sure Jake felt included in all the tasks. Here he is replacing all the innards of one of the old toilets...

And of course we wanted him to get the full experience of living in snow country...

But he insisted on taking a well-deserved time-out to meditate and walk the labyrinth.

The "Labyrinth in Late Fall" pic in the top sidebar was also contributed by Prince Jake. Here are just a couple more of the photos he captured of our back yard:

We did manage to take him to one of the sites unique to our area - The New England Peace Pagoda, the first of its kind to be established in the United States. This is just one of the outstanding photos he took there.
